There was great joy on Thursday, 3rd September 2026, as Hon. (Mrs) Immaculata Chinyere Egwu formally assumed office as the new Vice Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area
The newly sworn-in Vice Chairman, who took oath of office on Tuesday 1st September 2026, promised to work in lockstep with her principal, the Executive Chairman of Afikpo LGA to cascade Governor Francis Nwifuru’s People’s Charter of Needs agenda to the grassroots
Her assumption of office was preceded by a formal handover at the Council Headquarters fron the immediate past Vice Chairman, Hon. Josephine Chinwe Nwogo.
While handing over, the immediate past Vice Chairman congratulated her successor on her emergence and prayed for God’s wisdom, sound health, and divine guidance as she steers the affairs of the office.
Hon(Mrs.) Nwogo expressed profound appreciation to Governor Francis Nwifuru and wife, and to the Executive Chairman of Afikpo LGA, NWACHI, Timothy A. U for the opportunity to serve as Vice Chairman. She pledged her continued loyalty and support to the administration, even outside office.
Welcoming the new Vice Chairman, the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Apostle Uduma Peter Agha, described her emergence as a fitting reward for loyalty, competence, and years of grassroots service.
He assured Hon(Mrs) Chinyere Egwu of the Chairman’s full backing, noting that a conducive working environment has already been provided to enable her discharge her duties effectively in line with the administration’s vision.
In their separate speeches, a former Supervisor for Youths & Sports, Hon. Isaac Arua Enyum and the APC Woman Leader Ibii/Ozizza Ward, Mrs. Chinasa Abani thanked immensely the Afikpo Council Chairman, for nominating a daughter of Ibii/Ozizza Ward as his Vice. They described Hon.(Mrs) Chinyere Egwu as a woman of proven humility, integrity, and service and urged her to remain loyal to her principal and to prioritize programs that will uplift youths and women across Afikpo LGA
In her response, the new Vice Chairman of Afikpo LGA, Hon. (Mrs) Immaculata Chinyere Egwu expressed deep gratitude to God Almighty, Governor Nwifuru and wife, the Executive Chairman, party leaders, and the good people of Afikpo for the confidence reposed in her.
Applauding the outstanding achievements of the Executive Chairman of Afikpo LGA, NWACHI, Timothy A. U. in his first tenure, Hon(Mrs) said she was proud to serve as his Vice in his second tenure
She pledged to serve with humility, fear of God, and total commitment to drive the People’s Charter of Needs agenda to every ward
The Hand over exercise was sealed with a prayer of dedication and thanksgiving by the Catholic Priest of St. Brigid Catholic Church, Ozizza, Rev. Fr. Patrick Ufiem who committed the new administration into God’s hands and prayed for the continued success of the governments of Governor Nwifuru and NWACHI, Timothy A. U.
