The Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Builder Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru on Tuesday, 1st September 2026, swore- in NWACHI, Timothy A. U as the Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area for a second term in office.
Also sworn-in was Hon. (Mrs.) Immaculata Chinyere Egwu as the Vice Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Christian Ecumenical Center, Abakaliki, and was witnessed by a distinguished gathering of Ebonyi leaders, stakeholders, and well-wishers from across the state.
Also Sworn-in were the newly elected Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of Council Areas in Ebonyi State
In his remarks, Governor Nwifuru charged the newly sworn-in Council Chairmen to deepen the frontiers of development and entrench good governance in their respective domains. He further urged them to remain faithful to the oath of office and to uphold the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the discharge of their duties.
Responding on behalf of the new Council Chairmen, the Executive Chairman of Afikpo LGA, NWACHI, Timothy A. U expressed profound gratitude to the State Governor and the good people of Ebonyi State for the opportunity to serve. He assured that they are fully prepared to bring more dividends of democracy to the grassroots, in line with the People’s Charter of Needs Agenda of Gov. Nwifuru led administration.
Immediately after the ceremony, stakeholders of Afikpo LGA converged at Real Xclusive Hotel, Abakaliki for a colorful reception organized by friends and associates in honor of the Executive Chairman of Afikpo LGA
In his Opening Remarks, the Chairman of the Occasion, High Chief Hyacinth Ekuma Ikpor who is the Chairman, Ebonyi Founding Fathers Forum and Commissioner, South East Development Commission, congratulated the Council Chairman on his successful inauguration for a second term. He pledged the total support of stakeholders to ensure his administration succeeds.
The State APC Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, in his remarks, described NWACHI, Timothy A. U as a trusted ally and a committed foot soldier of the People’s Charter of Needs Agenda. He called on the people of Afikpo LGA to rally behind their Chairman, expressing confidence that his second term would surpass the remarkable achievements of his first tenure.
In their goodwill messages, other dignitaries including Chief Donatus Ezeogo Aja, PhD; Hon. Nicodemus Oko Egwu; Hon. Aisha Nwachi; Pharmacist Tony Ekoh; Chief Okpani Ndukwe; Dr. Emmanuel Oko Ibiam; Hon. (Mrs.) Ngozi Lilian Eziuloh; Pasto Ndubuisi Orji;Dame Priscilla Alu Idam; Professor Albert Okorocha and Nwachi Uduma described the event as a historic watershed in the political evolution of Afikpo LGA. They urged the Council Chairman to remain focused, people-centered, and steadfast in delivering quality governance to his people.
In his response, the Executive Chairman, NWACHI, Timothy A. U, thanked the people of Afikpo LGA for their overwhelming support and trust. He reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, grassroots development, and the welfare of all. The Council Chairman who spoke through his Vice, Hon(Mrs) Chinyere Immaculata Egwu pledged that his second tenure will be anchored on service, transparency, and tangible projects that will touch every ward, community, and household, assuring that the best of Afikpo LGA is yet to come.
