In a significant show of political solidarity, leaders and major stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ohafia Local Government Area have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the federal lawmakers representing the area, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu.
The resolution was part of a communiqué issued at the end of a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Ikenga Plaza Hotel in Ebem Ohafia.
The meeting, which deliberated on the prevailing political climate and the performance of the party’s elected representatives, resulted in a strong endorsement of their leadership.
Reaffirmation of Support and commendation
The communiqué highlighted “unwavering support” for President Tinubu, commending his “bold, innovative, and people-oriented economic policies designed to reposition Nigeria for sustainable growth and prosperity.”
The leaders also expressed “profound appreciation” to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu for their “exemplary leadership, quality representation, and numerous developmental contributions” to Abia North and Nigeria at large.
Acknowledgment of Developmental Projects
The meeting specifically acknowledged and listed Senator Kalu’s projects impacting the LGA, which formed the basis for their confidence. These include:
- The construction and rehabilitation of strategic roads.
- Building and renovation of classroom blocks.
- Installation of solar-powered street lights across Abiriba, Nkporo, and Ohafia clans.
- Various youth empowerment initiatives, support schemes for indigent women, and strong backing for farmers.
Appeal for Federal Appointments and 2027 Outlook
Looking ahead, the stakeholders passionately appealed for Ohafia LGA indigenes to be considered for federal appointments as a reward for the area’s “support and loyalty to APC,” to ensure active inclusion in national governance.
In a clear signal for the next general elections, the communiqué reaffirmed the party’s “collective resolve to reward President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s visionary leadership and outstanding service with overwhelming votes and total support” in 2027.
The meeting concluded with a call to action, urging all APC members in Ohafia LGA to remain steadfast, united, and vigilant in promoting the party’s ideals and ensuring its sustained growth and dominance in the region.
