In a poignant atmosphere that drew tears and tributes, the remains of Engr. Kingsley Agha Mbey, a dedicated staff of Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic Unwana from Ugwuegu, Afikpo were laid to rest at his compound on Friday.The funeral service, held at the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Umunnato Parish, Amaizu, drew in notable dignitaries and crowd of sympathizers who came to pay their last respects..Among those in attendance were the Executive Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area, NWACHI, Timothy A. U; the Chairperson of Afikpo Local Government Area, Hon. (Mrs.) Keziah Uduma Nwachi; Pastor Sunday Uduma Nwachi; Hon. Emmanuel Uduma Nwachi; Hon. Okey Uduma Nwachi; Hon. Uduma Uga A.; and other members of the Uduma Nwachi family as in-laws to the deceased family.The Council Chairman, who was deeply moved by the loss, and in his condolence message, paid a glowing tribute to the late Engr. Kingsley Mbey whom he described as an “invaluable asset to his administration and humanity generally.” He lamented his untimely death at 49 as a “devastating loss” and prayed that God will console the wife, children, siblings, and the Polytechnic Community as well as others affected by the loss. Represented by his Chief of Staff, Apostle (Dr.) Uduma Peter Agha, the Council Chairman urged the crowd of sympathizers who had gathered for the funeral to prioritize their spiritual well-being, noting that death can come at any time.Tributes and condolence messages poured in from the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Nigeria; Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnic (SSANIP), Poly Unwana Chapter; and the Management and Staff of Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana. The reception ceremony which took place at WTC Ugwuegu and chaired by Dr Uchenna Ugboaja was an assemblage of friends, classmates, colleagues and relatives of the deceased who made handsome donations to support the bereaved family. Late Engr. Kingsley Mbey, who was Secretary of SSANIP, Poly Unwana Chapter, died after an illness at the age of 49. May his soul rest in peace.
