The Award, according to the Chairman of the Rootswatch Editorial Board ,Prince Bayode Ojo was designed to showcase the impactful achievements of Local Government helmsmen and reward excellence in grassroots governance.
The Executive Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area, NWACHI, Timothy A. U was honored with the Rootswatch National Award, 2025 during an event which took place on Thursday at the National Merit House, Abuja
The Award was conferred on him by the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa Onilu who doubled as the Chairman of the Occasion

Some of the signature of NWACHI’s good governance in Afikpo Local Government Area include; the construction of an ultramodern storey Office Complex; establishment of a trailer Park; payment of Severance allowances to immediate past Council Officials; renovation of Ugwuegu Health Center; development of Afikpo Modern Market & Bishop Okoro Regional Market; grading & Laterating of Roads, distribution of Educational materials to schools; empowerment of some women and youths; payment of hospital bills to individuals trapped in hospitals; construction of 2 box culverts at Ugwuegu; payment of school fees to some students in tertiary institutions; empowerment of some petit traders to boost their business activities among other life enhancing programmes of his Administration
