Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has appealed to Ikwo elites to embark on projects that will impact positively on the lives of their people.
Speaking Friday in his office, Ochudo Centenary City Abakaliki when he received in audience members of the Ikwo Elites Progressives Movement, Governor Nwifuru announced his administration’s intention to take another quantum leap in infrastructure and human capital development
Sueing for rank closure in pursuits of common objectives, he urged the group to be visibly distinct in its operations across Ikwo and beyond especially in human capital development.
“As an elite, you must be known for something serious, not just infrastructure”.
“You must be known to be proactive, decisive and knowing when to act. You must always be known for provisions of service than being profit driven”.
“Legacy and goodwill”, he insisted, must characterise your group.
“At all times, you must strive for legacy” as against praise singing.
Earlier, the National President of Ikwo Elite Progressive Union. Dr. Christian Asaga Nwali explained that as people united in pursuit of democratic ideals, it thus became very important to rally behind the Governor for more accelerated development and people centric governance.
“We recognize the giant strides you have made in the area of peace and security.
“You have wonderful scorecards in the areas of security as seen with the provisions of vehicles to security agencies and timely restoration of peace in troubled communities.
He acknowledged the contributions of the Governor in the area of education, the Aeronautic University in Ezza and the ICT University Oferekpe Agbaja.
“We are also aware of Your Excellency’s provisions of Scholarships to over 1000 Ebonyians studying in Europe and Nigeria.
“In health also, you have provided ambulances to respond to medical emergencies. In the area of infrastructure, your interventions are visible in the VANCO flyover and rural roads”
Insisting that the multisectoral governance and transformation of the state by the Ebonyi leader, has earned him statewide support, the group stated it has mobilised support for the reelection of the Governor.
“Because you are a Governor with a human heart, we are here to tell you that your election in 2027 is sacrosanct. We have aligned ourselves with your visions to ensure your election is seamless in Ikwo”.
The Member representing , Ezza South/ Ikwo Federal Constituency, Comrade Chinedu Ogah said the Union was formed to facilitate the development of Ikwo Noyo and pledged their unalloyed support to Governor Nwifuru’s adminstration
