The Chairman Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Hon Barr Nwodo Aloysius Nwodo has commended the aggressive transformation at the Ebonyi State College of Health Science, Ngbo, under the leadership of the new Provost, Mrs.Chibueze Chetachi .
Hon. Barr. Nwodo gave the commendation during a familiarization visit to the institution .
The Committee Chairman who represents Ebonyi North West Constituency, said the rapid developments at the college reflect Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s unwavering commitment to raising educational and health standards in the state.
He said an aggressive academic activities ongoing in the Institution guarantee a steady supply of professional health workers for Ebonyi State and equally hailed the environmental cleanliness and infrastructural upgrades in the college.
Hon Barr Nwodo Aloysius Nwodo emphasized that the visit was aimed at strengthening standards not to witch-hunt anyone promising legislative support for college’s growth as health is wealth.
In her response, the Provost of College of Health Science and Technology Ngbo , Mrs.Chibueze Chetachi highlighted the achievement of the college under her administration within few months in office to include building of ultra-modern ICT Center, registration for NBTE accreditationfor five departments, facilitated amendment of college law, construction of college gate with security building andperimeterfencing, renovation of library block, renovation of college canteen and clinic, renovation of female hostel improvement in enrollment and establishment of college entrepeurship Centre.
She thanked the State Governor for her appointment and the State House of Assembly for passage of law establishing the college adding that the college had expanded programmes in Environmental Health, Community Health, and Health Information Management to drive robust healthcare delivery.
Mrs Chibueze Chetachi however maintained that it was not all through rossy as some challenges are still facing the college and appealed for government intervention in areas of critical need, citing lack of a college coaster bus, mobility for principal officers, male hostels, and the need for more staff recruitment.
The Provost told the Committee that the Governor had done alot for the upliftment of the Institution and promised to continue in the way she was met but solicited for more supports.
Also speaking, the Deputy Leader of the House and Committee Member, Hon. Joseph Ununu, praised the Provost for the visible programmes that have repositioned the institution for success.
The Committee pledged to synergize with the college management to ensure sustained growth of the institution.
