The people of Onicha Igboeze have unanimously adopted Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru as the sole candidate in the 2027 guber contest, denying Chief Ifeanyi Odi who is from the clan their support. Odi, also known as Anyichucks is the Ebonyi PDP governorship flagbearer.
This was as they pledged sustained support for Governor Nwifuru on the deliberate steps he has so far taken in addressing the plethora of infrastructural and human capital development dearth in the clan, an intervention that has further set the clan on a speedy development lane.
The clan ahead of the official guber campaign flagoff, paid solidarity visit to Governor Nwifuru in his office, Ochudo Centenary City Abakaliki, on Wednesday, dismissing claims that the clan had agreed to vote on ethnic lane against the established equity.
Comprised of the 26 Council Ward and 2 autonomous communities, 2 traditional prime ministers in Igboeze Autonomous Community and Onicha Autonomous Communities, chairmen of the 26 villages and councils, Town Union President executives, women groups and youths.
Remarking, Governor Nwifuru said more development and interventions are in the offing if they remain united and purse united political fronts.
“You must remain united, supportive and collaborative in pursuit of your common interests and goal.
“We will do more for your people. We will award more projects and hasten the completion of ongoing ones”.
Speaking, the clan led by Barr Eze Ogbonnaya Eze said they came to show solidarity and commend the Ebonyi leader for the ongoing delivery of his People’s Charter of Needs Agenda in the state in the state in general and the clan in particular.
Reeling out avalanches of social and political interventions across the entire clan of Onicha Igboeze by Governor Nwifuru, the Town Union President, Barr Eze Ogbonnaya Eze said one of the prized virtues of Onicha Igboeze people is gratitude.
Eze said the clan remains eternally grateful for the governor’s “construction of 26 classroom blocks in Onicha Central School, ongoing construction of 16kilometer Amanato-Isu Road, appointment of Permanent Secretary, Special Assistants, Commissioners and inclusion in the foreign and local scholarships, beneficiaries from the clan”.
He said “we are grateful people. For all you have done for us, we are very grateful.
“It is in appreciation of your good works in Onicha Igboeze clan that we will vote massively for you.
“All the polling units in our clan will be delivered to you in 2027 and all the APC candidates.
“We are thanking you for your gracious interventions in our land”.
