Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Barr Ikeuwa Omebeh has received the members of the Steering Committee of the League of Veteran Journalists in the State with an assurance that the state government was prepared to tap from their experience to advance effective reporting of government activities.
Speaking while receiving the members in his office in Abakaliki, the Commissioner extolled the quality of practitioners in the League adding that they were notable names that have impacted on the practice in the State.
He used the opportunity to court the members in further publicising the programmes and projects of Governor Nwifuru scattered in all the nooks and crannies of the state.
Barr Omebeh commended the efforts of the government to continue with the projects of his predecessors pointing out that the governor has zero tolerance for abandoned projects.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and a former Chairman of Ebonyi Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Barr Iduma O. Iduma had informed the Commissioner of the existence of the league stressing that it included former Chairmen and secretaries of the NUJ, former chief executives of media organisations in the state and some other practitioners who have attained the zenith of their chosen field of journalism.
Barr Iduma also listed members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors in the state as members.
He also spoke on the first outing of the state government at the 21st conference of the NGE at the banquet hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja with President Tinubu in attendance.
He commended the Commissioner who represented the Governor in Abuja and noted that the participation would ruboff positively on the state as it has paved the way for friendship between the editors and the state government.
Those who spoke during the meeting including, some members of the committee, Dom Isute, Barr Bene Edwin Onwe, Mrs Veronica Osim, Barr Chris Egbu, Mr Godwin Okafor, Emma Nworie, Mr Emmanuel Okechukwu commended the leadership style of the governor and pledged their preparedness to volunteer their experience and expertise in serving the state.
