In a momentous occasion that will be etched in the annals of Unwana history, the community came together on Monday, September 29, 2025, to witness the inauguration of its newly elected Executive Officers of Nzuko Unwana.
This momentous event, held at the iconic Unwana Hall, marked the dawn of a new era after 8 years of anticipation.
The colorful ceremony followed a resounding election held on Friday, September 26, 2025, where the people of Unwana exercised their civic duty, casting their votes in droves.
As the Chief Magistrate of Afikpo Magisterial District, Michael Olughu Okoro, administered the Oath of Office and Allegiance, he charged the elected officials to prioritize the welfare of their people above personal interests, emphasizing that this selflessness would be the bedrock of progress and development in Unwana Community.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Engr Abraham Ibiam, highlighted on the success of the election, noting that the massive turnout was an expression of the community’s yearning for a new dawn. His words resonated deeply with the audience, capturing the essence of the community’s aspirations.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected President General of Nzuko Unwana, Engr Uduma Uga A. expressed profound gratitude to the community for entrusting him with this noble responsibility. He pledged to serve with humility and diligence, driving development and progress in the community. Engr Uduma Uga vowed to work in tandem with his executives to usher in an era characterized by dedicated service, peace, unity, harmony, and community development.
The event was graced by prominent community members, including the Executive Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area, NWACHI, Timothy A.U., who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Apostle Uduma Peter Agha. In his goodwill message, the Council Chairman advised the new executives to prioritize peace and unity in their leadership, emphasizing that these values would be crucial to their success.
As the newly inaugurated executives embark on their four-year tenure, the people of Unwana Community have high hopes for a brighter future, marked by unprecedented progress and development.
