Nigeria’s Minister of Works, His Excellency Senator Engr. David Umahi, CON, has responded to recent comments made by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, regarding the cost of road construction in the country.
Speaking on Saturday, October 11, 2025, during an inspection of the Abuja–Keffi highway, Umahi dismissed Makinde’s remarks suggesting he was “dancing around” questions about the cost per kilometer of federal road projects.
According to the Minister, “I won’t join issues with Makinde. I am his senior in governance. He should withdraw his statement that I’m dancing around the question of cost per kilometer. If he wants a debate, I’m ready for him.”

The Minister, who has been leading nationwide inspections of ongoing road projects, added that he remains open to public scrutiny and transparent dialogue on infrastructure spending
