Following the ongoing investigation into the January 29 killings at Okporojo in Oso-Edda and the investigative mileages recorded so far, the curfew imposed on Amasiri Community has been reviewed.
To this end, movements will now take place from 7 am to 6 pm daily.
Briefing newsmen after the State Security Council Meeting, the Governor of Ebonyi State Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru said the Council considered intelligence reports and adopted measures to review the curfew imposed on the Amasiri community.
“To further excavate facts surrounding the killings , the Council agreed to adopted more stringent measures for peace to return to Amasiri and Okporojo Community, soonest.
“Council hinted that those arrested in connection with the crises will be charged to court.
According to the Governor, the Council agreed that all schools in Amasiri should remain closed pending the determination and conclusion of investigations to forestall further occurrence.
The Governor after a security meeting over two weeks ago had placed a twenty hour a day curfew on Amasiri community in addition to the sacking of two traditional rulers from Amasiri, all political appointees from the area, closure of all schools and other stern measures aimed at bringing about peace and forestalling a reprisal attack from Edda.
