The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South East), Barr. (Mrs.) Chioma Nweze, has hailed the defection of Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a bold and visionary move for the future of the state and the South-East region.
Barr. Nweze, who joined other dignitaries and stakeholders at the defection ceremony held in Enugu, said Governor Mbah’s decision to join the APC reflects courage, foresight, and a strong commitment to aligning Enugu State with the progressive agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope administration.
She noted that the development signifies a major political realignment in the South-East, opening new opportunities for collaboration, inclusion, and accelerated development in the region.
“Governor Mbah’s move is not just a political decision but a statement of vision and conviction — a commitment to ensure that Enugu and the South-East are not left behind in the unfolding national transformation,” Nweze stated.
She added that the defection of the Governor and key members of his team from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC represents a renewed faith in the centre and a strategic partnership with the Federal Government for the good of the people.
According to the Presidential aide, the development will further strengthen grassroots engagement, enhance infrastructure delivery, and attract more federal presence to Enugu State.

Barr. Nweze, who has been championing unity and community engagement across the South-East, reaffirmed her belief that the move would usher in a new era of progress and inclusion under the Renewed Hope government.
“We warmly welcome His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah, and his team to the APC — a party of inclusivity, vision, and national development. Together, we can build a stronger Enugu and a more prosperous South-East,” she added.
